Vera Meyer

Vera Meyer also works as a visual artist, using the pseudonym V. meer (also on Instagram). Inspired by her scientific work with fungi, she puts a strong emphasis on sculpting and creating objects from chance finds like forest mushrooms, decaying wood and scrap metal. Through her artwork she wants to enhance the awareness of fungi and their potential in biotechnology, as well as a sustainable bioeconomy in general.

Charlotte Steiniger

Charlotte Steiniger is currently working as a biotechnologist in the team of Vera Meyer and explores the enormous potential of fungi for the production of diverse natural products. As a slideline illustrator and web designer, her heart also beats for art in its manifold forms of expression. Charlotte's work reaches from classic paintings with oil colour and acrylics on canvas to digitally made cartoons, and up to handicraft in the form of clay figures and knitting art.

Bertram Schmidt

Bertram Schmidt is currently working as a biotechnologist in the team of Vera Meyer and is dedicated to the research of fungi and their possible applications as novel biomaterials. He is also interested in materials in an aesthetic sense, be it in applying pasty oil paints, carving wood or forging steel.

Science and the arts are considered as two distinct, sometimes even diametrically opposite disciplines. Science is based on hard facts, the arts get their power from emotion.
